Steel squareis a type of rolled metal product with an equilateral quadrilateral cross-section. It is widely used in industry, automotive industry and construction. There are two manufacturing technologies, namely, cold and hot rolling. Squares are classified into the following types: hot-rolled, calibrated and forged.

Each of them complies with established standards:

• Steel hot-rolled square is regulated by GOST 2591-88, the sides of the steel square are from 6 to 200 mm;
• Calibrated square bars with sides from 3 to 100 mm comply with GOST 8559-75;
• Forged square with sides from 40 to 200 mm complies with GOST 1133-71.

By degree of accuracy the products are divided into:

• Б, increased accuracy;
• В, normal accuracy.

By method of measuring of shipped volume:

• single-length (in meters or by weight);
• random length (weight in tons).

By material composition:

• High-alloy steel is used for squares 1 to 6 m long;
• alloyed or carbon steel - for squares 2 to 6 m long;
• Low-alloy and carbon steel - for squares 2 to12 m long.
